Faculty Technology Development / Online Course Management Tips:

  • Schedule Online Quizzes & Assignment Deadlines Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 8:00 pm.

Do not schedule online quizzes and assignment due dates over the weekend! If computer networking, iLearn, or Gmail goes down, staff are not available to help. Students suffer!

  • Do I need to be worried about copyright if I am putting material from my face-to-face class online?

Yes you may. Copyright laws which apply for in-classroom use are not the same as for the online classroom. See these links for guidelines as to what is and is not allowed.

  • Why should I use online tools if I'm teaching a face-to-face class?

Technology provides ways to enhance students learning by enriching in classroom activities outside of class.  iLearn, our online learning management system, provides a means of continuing discussions outside of class, a secure way of keeping students up to date about their grades, and a place to post materials instead of printing and handing them out in class (saves on paper and the requests for another copy because "I misplaced mine"), among others.
